Borrowing Policy-- Students and Community

Identification

Students use their Tusculum College ID as a library card.  Complimentary cards for students of reciprocating institutional libraries( upon presentation of a valid ID)* may be obtained at the circulation desk.  Greeneville-Greene County residents may obtain a community borrowers card after presenting a current valid Greeneville/Greene County Library Card and a valid picture ID.   For temporary residents of Greene County, after presentation of a current Tennessee public library card and a valid picture ID, a temporary 30 day card will be provided.  For those not otherwise covered, a library card may be purchased for $25.00 per year.

Books circulate for three weeks and may be renewed  2 times unless placed on hold by another user.   The maximum limit for non-Tusculum and community users is ten (10)  books.

Periodicals, reference works, materials from Special Collections room, and reserves may be used in-house only.

Audiovisual material (videos) may be checked out only by currently enrolled Tusculum College students  for 1 week and may renew one (1) time.   Students must  show  a currently validated TC student ID.   Limit of one DVD/Video per student per checkout period.

Returning Items

Please return items to the Library Circulation Desk book return or, when the building is closed, the book return at the front entrance. Books may also be returned to the Knoxville branch for shipment via campus mail or to the Greeneville-Greene County Public Library.  Please bag and label appropriately for quick identification and return.

Hold Requests

Hold requests may be made by TC students  for materials currently checked out.  Please contact the circulation desk to make such a request. Upon return of the desired item(s), a notice will be sent and the library will place  a return request for the material.   The Library will hold requested materials for  three days after notifying the requestor of the availability of the material for pick up.

 Overdues Notices

Tusculum College Students:

Notices are mailed the first day after materials are due. Library privileges will be withheld until items are returned and any fines and fees paid. A second notice is mailed seven days later. After fourteen days, an invoice will be sent from the Business Office assessing the borrower $50 replacement cost per book and $100 per video.     Borrowing privileges will be suspended and a hold will be placed to prevent receipt of grades, transcripts, diplomas, and/or paychecks until items are returned or replacement costs are paid.  Items declared lost by the borrower or that are returned and determined to be damaged beyond repair must be replaced and the borrower will be assessed replacement costs determined by the library on a case by case basis.

Other cardholders:

Notices will be mailed as per above.  Library privileges will be withheld until items are returned or replacement cost is paid.  Replacement cost is $50 per book.  Delinquent borrowers will receive follow-up notices as above and be billed for replacement costs after the 2nd notice.  Suspension of library borrowing privileges will be enforced until items are returned and/or replacement costs paid.  The Greeneville-Greene County Public Library will be notified in the case of any delinquent community borrower who holds a GGCPL card.
