ENABLING COOKIE DROPPING FOR RESEARCH DATABASES ACCESS AND LOWERING SECURITY SETTINGS

Resetting levels on Internet Explorer 6.0

First:

Go to Tools menu

Click on Internet Options

Choose Privacy

If the tab is set on medium or high, lower the tab  to the Low setting to accept 3^rd party cookies

Click Yes to Accept changes

Choose Apply

Choose Ok

Go back to the Research Databases page and try accessing the database again.  If still unsuccessful close and reopen your browser and try again to access the database.  If still unsuccessful,  then proceed with the following instructions:

Choose Security
Click on Default level button
Move tab to Low setting
Click Yes to accept change
Click Apply
Click Okay

After the initial cookie for all the research database are dropped onto the host computer, the security level can be reset to Medium by following the same procedure. Some students may have to reset the levels on both Internet Explorer and AOL for them to take affect. Once reset it is not necessary to close and reopen the browser. The change should be immediate.
 

AOL 8.0

Choose AOL settings menu
Choose Preferences
Choose Internet Properties( www)
Choose Security
Click on Default level
Move bar to lowest setting
Click Yes to accept settings
click Apply
Click Ok
