ARTSTOR
Browser configuration instructions for off campus access and use
Please note: You must have registered an account with ARTStor from a Campus network computer (either Greeneville, Morristown or Knoxville) and logged onto ARTStor using your account within the last 90 days from a campus computer in order to use ARTStor from an off campus site. Any questions about registering may be directed to Anne Reever Osborne, Asst. Library Director for Distance Learning.

For off-campus access, ARTSTOR requires a specific browser configuration and the ARTSTOR Java plug-in. Please follow the steps below in order to use ARTSTOR as a registered user from home or another off campus location. Perform the following setup for the following browsers and to set the Java Plugin. If you use an alternative browser*, please contact Anne Reever Osborne, DL Librarian for instructions.
Internet Explorer 6.0
Under the “tools” drop-down, select “internet options”.
On the “connections” tab, click the “LAN settings” button and on the resulting screen check the “automatically detect settings” and the “use automatic configuration script” boxes and in the box directly below type the following: http://library.acaweb.org:8080/proxy.pac
Click the “ok” button on the “LAN settings” screen
Click the “apply” button on the larger screen
Netscape 7.2:
Under the “edit” drop-down, select “preferences” and expand the triangle to the left of “advanced”
Select “proxies” and select the radio button for “automatic proxy configuration url” and enter the following the box just below: http://library.acaweb.org:8080/proxy.pac
Click the “reload” button and then the “ok” button
Netscape Version 8.0 and Mozilla Firefox Version 5.0
Under the “tools” drop-down menu, select “options” and then select “connection settings”.
Select the radio button for “automatic proxy configuration url” and enter the following in the associated box: http://library.acaweb.org:8080/proxy.pac
Click the “reload” button and then the “ok” button
Java plug-in (based on Windows XP):
From “start”, select “settings” and then “control panel” or just “control panel”
Double click on the “java plug-in” icon
For version 1.4: on the “advanced tab” in the “Java Runtime Parameters” box enter the following:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=library.acaweb.org –Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 where the only space is after the org and before the second dash.
Click “apply” and go to the “cache” tab to “clear” the cache. Then close the screen
For version 1.5: on the “java” tab, click the “view” button associated with the “jva APPLET runtime settings” and in the “java runtime parameters” box enter the following:
-Dhttp.proxyHost=library.acaweb.org –Dhttp.proxyPort=8080 again where the only space is after the org and before the second dash.
Click “ok” on that screen and “apply” in the larger screen
*Use of AOL as a browser is NOT recommended. Minimize the AOL browser and use one of the browsers listed above.
