IDENTIFICATION
Students, faculty and staff use their Tusculum College ID as a library card. Tusculum alumni and students of reciprocating institutional libraries may obtain complimentary cards from library staff. A valid ID is required. For those not otherwise covered, a library card may be purchased for $5.00.
COLLECTIONS
Collections of The Library at Tusculum College are reviewed in the Greeneville library guide.
CIRCULATION SERVICES
Books circulate for three weeks and may be renewed 2 times unless placed on hold by another user. The limit for non-Tusculum users is ten (10) books per visit.
Videocassettes and DVDs may be checked out for one week.
Periodicals, reference works, and reserves may be used in-house only.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Reference assistance, library orientation/instruction.
Reference services and individual instruction on the use of library resources are available. Group sessions are available and should be scheduled with Mary Halliburton.
Computer services.
Library computers so designated have Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) installed. Students may utilize these programs for educational and coursework purposes. However, top priority for library computers is access to the library catalog, databases, the internet, and other information sources.
Printing services.
Printing services are available in the library. There is ten cents (10˘) per page charge for printing from computers in the library.
Distance Learning Services and Resource Delivery
Library services to all students at off campus locations include telephone and e-mail reference and library instruction service, resource-by-mail service, intra-campus book loan, and interlibrary loan. Forms are available at the TC Library Website at http://library.tusculum.edu to ask reference questions or to request materials. Intra-Campus Book Loan (Books by Mail for Off Campus Distance Learning students only):
Books from TC Library Greeneville or Knoxville may be requested by students by phone, in person or, with an online form. Materials will be sent to Knoxville, Greeneville, Tri Cities (Gray), or Morristown centers via campus courier or, upon request be sent via U.S. Postal Service to a student's home address. Under normal circumstances, requests will be filled within 2 business days. Books may be returned to the Greeneville or Knoxville libraries, the Tri-Cities or Morristown campus site coordinator, or via U.S. Postal Service (using the postage paid return label provided if originally sent in this manner). Overdue notices will be per standard policy. Renewals may be requested over the phone, by email, or in person. Limit 4 books per student per 3-week lending period.
Other Resources by Mail (Distance Learning Students Only)
Article copies may also be sent via e-mail, campus courier, or U.S. Postal Service. A photocopy charge of 10 cents per page is payable upon receipt by check or money order to Tusculum College Library. Unpaid requests will be billed to the student’s account. Limit 4 articles per student per course period.
DVDs and videocassettes will not be sent through U.S. Postal Mail but may be delivered by courier mail to Knoxville, Greeneville, Gray or Morristown. Consult your librarian for more information.
Interlibrary Loan
All students may borrow up to four books and request copies of journal articles available from other institutions. The waiting period may be as long as 2 weeks. Students are responsible for any additional costs charged by the lending library. Materials may be picked up at the Knoxville library, unless special arrangements are made. Interlibrary loan request forms are available online. You may also contact Mary Halliburton for assistance in obtaining items available from other libraries.
OVERDUES/FINES
Tusculum College students: Students will be notified by phone, email, campus mail, or US mail when items are overdue. Final notices will be sent by US mail when items are long overdue. If items are not returned after the final notice, an invoice from the Business Office, assessing the user will be sent.
Other cardholders: Library privileges will be withheld until items are returned and any fines/fees paid. Delinquent borrowers will receive follow-up notices as appropriate.
LIBRARY ETIQUETTE
An atmosphere conducive to learning is a major component of any library. Please make sure your conversations, your actions, your attitude, and your mobile phone contribute to a pleasant and enjoyable, yet educational, atmosphere for all library patrons.
